From small beginnings in1982, VORARC WELDING has become Africa's largest manufacturer of submerged arc welding wires as well as the only manufacturer of submerged arc fluxes on the continent.

These products have all been developed locally from local raw materials using tested manufacturing processes. For the last 15 years Vorarc Welding has been producing manual metal arc welding electrodes. While volumes remain relatively small, these products are of a very high standard.

Over the years the quality and versatility of Vorarc Welding's Subtec submerged arc welding consumables have steadily been improved. The seven different types of flux currently being provided cover all the applications for which they may be required. From ordinary uses to pressure vessel applications, from stainless steel to cladding with flux-cored wires.

All products are manufactured to ISO 9002 standards ensuring consistent quality and, apart from wide use locally, are exported to Mauritius, Australia and the UK.

Demand forcing extended hours

Vorarc Welding has recently started working double shifts in the sub-arc wire department due to increased demand as a result of the Gautrain development and new power station contruction in South Africa.
